All Encore models come standard with a turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine rated at 138 horsepower and 148 lb-ft of torque. This is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. For a bit more power, an upgraded version of this engine is available on the Sport Touring and Essence trims. It delivers 153 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque. All-wheel drive is available on all but the base trim.

When equipped with front-wheel drive and the base engine, the Encore returns an EPA-estimated 26 mpg city, 31 mpg highway, and 28 mpg combined*.

Standard features on the 1SV trim include cruise control, keyless ignition, air conditioning, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, an 8-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth® connectivity, OnStar® with 4G LTE Wi-Fi® capabilities, satellite radio, and Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay™ compatibility. Premium available features include a sunroof, navigation, and a seven-speaker Bose® sound system.

Every Encore comes standard with a rearview camera, advanced airbags, antilock brakes, and traction and stability control. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are available as options on the Preferred trim. An additional safety package is available on the Essence trim that adds forward collision alert, front and rear parking sensors, automatic wipers, and lane departure warning.
