The 2019 GMC Terrain offers drivers three different engine options to choose from. The standard engine - and the only one offered on the base trim - is a 1.5-liter Turbo four-cylinder mated to a nine-speed automatic that delivers 170 horsepower. An available 2.0-liter Turbo four-cylinder boosts that output to 252 horsepower, while drivers looking for something different can opt for the 1.6-liter turbo-diesel engine rated at 137 horsepower when paired with a six-speed automatic. The diesel engine has an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 28 mpg in the city/39 mpg on the highway, while the 1.5-liter and 2.0-liter options are rated at 26/30 mpg city/highway and 22/28 mpg city/highway, respectively*.

The 2019 GMC Terrain employs intuitive technologies to help prevent accidents and protect passengers, such as an available variety of safety systems that include Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Front Pedestrian Braking. Drivers can even opt for the Safety Alert Seat, which alerts drivers to potential hazards with a discrete seat vibration.
