How often should you replace your wiper blades?

Generally speaking, you should replace your wiper blades every 6-12 months.

How do you know if they need to be replaced right away?

If you notice that your wiper blades are not clearing your windshield completely, it’s time to replace them. For instance, if they have begun skipping, streaking, splitting, or squeaking, it’s time to replace them right away. These issues indicate that your wiper blades have begun reducing your visibility on the road, which can seriously impede your safety on the road.

What are signs of wear and tear?

One of the most obvious signs of wiper blade wear and tear is worn-out blades. Avoid this problem by inspecting wiper blades for damage approximately every six months. Check if any parts are broken or corroded and if there is any visible damage (cracks, tears, etc.) to the blade’s rubber. It’s also a good idea to check the squeegee’s flexibility; if it has become inflexible from hot summer weather, it won’t be as capable of maintaining contact with the windshield.

How can i help my blades last longer?

There are several simple things you can do to help your wiper blades last longer.

1. Clean your windshield using the provided cleaner and squeegee each time you get gas at the gas station.
2. Use an ice scraper — rather than your wiper blades — to get ice off your windshield.
3. Pull your wiper blades away from the windshield when your vehicle is parked, during winter months, to prevent ice build-up on the rubber squeegee. This will also help keep them from sticking to the windshield.
